Middle School Embraces Honor Code During Annual Ceremony

Middle School students gathered for a special assembly on October 5 in the Barker Performing Arts Center, where they affirmed The Benjamin School Honor Code. Head of Middle School Charles Hagy welcomed professionally dressed sixth, seventh and eighth graders to the annual ceremony hosted by the division’s Student Services Department.

Hagy introduced Head of School Bob Goldberg who shared his heartfelt appreciation for the kindness of the middle school community before turning the program over to Head of Upper School Fletcher Carr. Carr spoke about what it means to live a life of honor and adhere to an honor code as a school. Faculty and students then took turns singing the pages of Honor Code books while piano music was performed by middle school musicians.

“By signing the honor code books in the presence of the entire middle school community, together we reaffirm our commitment to the highest personal and community values, including academic and social integrity. It is a declaration that the honorable course is best, and is one that engenders an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect,” said Director of Student Services Susan Poncy.
