Benjamin Thespians Named Playwright Finalists

Four talented Benjamin thespians were selected as finalists for the Palm Beach DramaWorks Young Playwrights Festival. Their ten-minute plays were selected from the largest pool of submissions and schools the festival has ever received, said upper school drama teacher Jason Peck.

Finalists Jakob Kroll, Ryan Collins, Ella Hayes, and Emeline Smith will each submit a revised version of their play to the committee to be considered as finalists for a professional staged reading, publications, and cash prize.

“This is a huge honor,” said Peck. “I am so very proud of them and all of our fabulous students who submitted work.”

The goal of PBD is to “introduce the joy of writing for the live theatre to young people, and to give teens a creative voice in expressing their thoughts and ideas.”
