The Gold Star Learning Lab, which is located on the Lower/Middle School Campus (Room 18) is dedicated to providing a supportive environment for students with unique learning needs. The Lab is staffed with learning specialists who are equipped with strategies to help students reach their full academic potential and be successful in the classroom. Learning specialists also provide assistance to teachers by offering direction on how to differentiate instruction for the varied learning needs of Benjamin students. The goal of the Gold Star Learning Lab is to give students the tools and strategies they need to be independent and responsible learners.
STEP TO SUCCESS AT THE GOLD STAR LEARNING LAB The Gold Star Learning Lab on the Lower/Middle School Campus (room #18) is open Monday-Thursday 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. - 8:10 a.m. The Learning Lab is staffed by qualified educators, offering students support beyond the classroom to encourage their academic success. Academic enrichment, remediation and maintenance are available through the Learning Lab both before and after school. Additional services are available as needed during the school day.
INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT Utilizing various strategies and methodologies, experienced faculty assist students with their learning needs either individually or in small group sessions. Computer-assisted instruction (C.A.I.), project-based learning, manipulatives and other developmentally appropriate activities are designed to meet each child’s needs.

Individual tutoring by certified teachers is available upon request. Students are paired with a faculty tutor to help meet their academic needs in a variety of subject areas, including math, reading, writing, study skills, Wilson/Fundations and more.
Benjamin Middle School offers an after-school study hall. It is open to all middle school students Monday through Thursday 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. throughout the school year. ETC is supervised by middle school teachers, and support is available in all middle school academic areas of study. Students are required to sign in, and they must be signed out by a parent or guardian.
Research shows that immature motor skills and postural instability have a direct correlation to educational achievement. Therefore, The Benjamin Lower School offers a screening that helps identify immature motor skills and postural instability. Students are referred by parents and/or faculty members.
