On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it is our distinct privilege to announce that David Farace has been unanimously selected as the next Head of School at The Benjamin School, officially assuming the role in July 2027 following David Faus’ retirement from this position.

This appointment is the culmination of a rigorous search process that began last spring. After reviewing the dossiers of 75 highly qualified candidates and engaging deeply with 14 semi-finalists, Mr. Farace’s candidacy stood out profoundly. He brings a rare combination of strategic vision, operational discipline, and a proven leadership record that perfectly aligns with our culture and long-term goals. After meeting with the Search Committee and the Faculty Advisory Committee, Mr. Farace stood out as the unanimous choice to lead Benjamin into the future. 

A seasoned educational leader who has dedicated his entire career to independent schools, Mr. Farace currently serves as Head of School at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has built a comprehensive understanding of school life, holding foundational roles in admissions, alumni relations, and development, while also dedicating time to teaching and coaching and serving as a campus parent. His extensive leadership portfolio includes serving as Head of School at Montgomery Academy in Alabama and The Bolles School in Jacksonville, as well as holding senior administrative roles at Randolph School in Huntsville, Alabama.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Washington and Lee University and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Johns Hopkins University. Furthermore, Mr. Farace is a distinguished NAIS/E.E. Ford Fellow, a premier program that prepares exceptional independent school administrators for headship.

What resonated most deeply with the committee throughout the interview process was Mr. Farace’s warmth, his strategic acumen, and his genuine respect for the art of teaching. He naturally embodies the 12 Benjamin Values, demonstrating a compelling, forward-looking vision and an authentic connection to student and faculty life.

While Mr. Farace and his wife, Becky, will officially join our community next July, we look forward to introducing them to the Benjamin family much sooner. We will share details regarding several upcoming events where parents, students, alumni, and faculty can warmly welcome them to campus.
