Glenn Hutchins, Silver Lake Co-founder

Glenn Hutchins, co-founder of Silver Lake Partners, the largest private equity firm in the area of technology, addressed the upper school student body on February 18 at the first Leadership Speaker Series presentation of the 2014-2015 school year. Former TBS Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dan Stanton and founder of the Leadership Speaker Series introduced the renowned special guest and served as moderator of the morning program hosted in the Healey Athletic Complex gymnasium.

“Mr. Hutchins has a very impressive business career and educational background, including investing in the most rapidly growing and dynamic companies in the U.S. and around the world,” said Stanton. “Transactions of note include selling Skype to Microsoft and being involved with Michael Dell in taking Dell private.”

Hutchins, who holds an AB from Harvard College, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a JD from Harvard Law School also served in the Clinton administration as a special advisor on economic and healthcare policy.

The TBS Leadership Speaker conveyed his professional insight on the world of government and its interaction with technological progress. Hutchins also shared with the audience the impact technology has on our lives as well as where he foresees future opportunities for young people.


"The goal of the series is to expose the Upper School community to professionals who have excelled in their given fields, and who will appeal to a broad range of student interests, ultimately inspiring them to become successful in life," said Director of College Counseling Kristen Learner who serves as advisor to the Leadership Speaker Series committee.
