New members of The Benjamin School’s chapter of the National Honor Society were inducted during a Spring ceremony in Benjamin Hall that celebrated academic excellence and student leadership in a variety of disciplines.
The ceremony, which began with a welcome from Head of School Mr. David Faus, recognized a new group of Spring inductees who embody the NHS values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Upper school teacher and faculty advisor Mrs. Shannon Anderson along with Mr. Connor Boray, welcomed faculty, students, and parents to the Spring 2026 Induction as the new co-advisors of the school’s chapter of NHS.
“As the new co-advisors, we are truly honored to step into this role and continue the work of Ms. Sara Misselhorn who has led this chapter with dedication and excellence for many years,” Anderson said. “We are grateful for the strong foundation that has been built and look forward to carrying that legacy forward.”
Mr. Boray followed with remarks briefly describing the four pillars of NHS.
“The students seated before you today have been evaluated according to these four qualities by the Benjamin National Honor Society faculty council, and they have been found to be exemplary candidates for membership,” he said.
The faculty council is comprised of Mrs. Sharon Wendler, Ms. Carol McGrath, Mr. Graham Wik, Mrs. Sara Salivar, and Ms. Renee Szeliga.
“We would like to thank them for their considerable time and participation,” Boray said before turning the podium over to NHS President Sebastian Scaperotto to begin the induction ceremony.
Scaperotto was joined by fellow student leaders Kate Quinlivan, Vice President; Ella Guagliano, Out-of-School Service Coordinator; Izzy Casey, In-School Service Coordinator; Ishe Makoni, Treasurer; and Addy Walzcak, Secretary. Together, they formally inducted the new members into the organization.
