Bucs Are Back: Students, Faculty Return to Campus for Start of 2025 School Year

Grandiflora Road and Ellison Wilson were buzzing with excitement and energy as students arrived for their first day of the 2025-26 school year. Teachers, faculty, and staff were stationed across both campuses as they greeted students by name, welcoming 1,321 Buccaneers back to school.

Outfitted with fresh backpacks, eager footsteps, and smiling faces, students made their way to class before the first peel of the bell.

Whether it was the littlest learners in the WOW (Worlds of Wonder) program entering their classrooms and campus for the very first time, or seniors commemorating their final first day, the energy was palpable.

“There’s nothing quite like the first day of school and the promise of a brand new beginning,” said Assistant Head of School Kristen Sheehan. “I am privileged to witness the first day of our little learners in WOW all the way to our seniors. Today is a fresh page in the TBS story that we write together. Every year I am just as excited as they are to see how that story unfolds!”

This year, Benjamin welcomed 190 new students. Notably, 147 of these students are children of alumni, and 87 are children of current faculty members, reflecting the strength and continuity of the Benjamin community.

Admissions numbers were equally impressive. The school received 635 new applications and, with a selective 28% acceptance rate, yielded an extraordinary 92% enrollment rate.

On both campuses, students were welcomed into classrooms that spark curiosity and creativity, surrounded by faculty committed to academic excellence and a commitment to the 12 Benjamin Values. Seniors also enjoyed a new tradition, each having a chance to ring the bell as their name was called before entering assembly.

Head of School Mr. David Faus said he loves that each new school year provides an opportunity for students, and adults alike, to reinvent themselves.

“Because of the summer break, each new school year allows us to come back with a fresh set of goals and the possibility to try something new,” he said. “It is like we have a fresh start each year - how nice is that!”
