College Counseling - March 2022

Note to viewers of this Zoom meeting (original air date--February 10, 2022):

Our College Counseling Office relies on the admissions data released by the universities. It is not unusual for these numbers to change during the process. Sometimes colleges project higher numbers early on in the process and then do not receive as many applications as predicted.

This was the case this year with FSU and UCLA. The numbers we were given early in the process were higher than numbers released before decisions. FSU announced a 103% in applications this year in November, and there was indeed a significant rise in applications, but the number of applications settled at around 75,000 and they were still accepting new applications up until March 1st. UCLA also received a record-breaking number of freshmen applications and ended up with around 149,800 applications, not including the transfer applications. However, it was not as high as the original projection, which may have included those transfer numbers, which were an additional 24,900 applications.

Since the February 10 Zoom date of the meeting, we've updated those two schools' numbers on our slides and we will review all of our data at the end of the cycle when the final numbers come in. Please note that this is a dynamic process. We work hard to present the data we receive from trusted sources and adjust it as soon as new data becomes available.
