I often have stated that each of my interim years has been an adventure; certainly this year has been one for all of us. As we head into spring break, I want to thank you all for your patience and flexibility during this unique and challenging time. Despite the suddenness of this disruption, we have managed to continue the learning for our students- the heart of the matter. For this I thank the entire school staff and faculty. Everyone has contributed to this effort.
I do want you to be aware of a few matters now in preparation for our return:
Remote classes will begin again on Monday, March 30.
The return to campus date is now no earlier than April 16, a date set by the State.
Mr. Carr and Mr. Hagy are gathering feedback from faculty and students regarding the online experience. They will use the responses to make any adjustments to the schedule that would be implemented when we return.
ERB testing will be moved to the fall (an alternative testing option used by many schools).
During the break, we will continue to discuss and plan for the possibility of the closure remaining in effect for a longer period of time. Some options we are looking into are increasing digital and pre-recorded lessons for the Lower School, adding Zoom classes in 4th and 5th Grades and Seesaw for WOW-Grade 3 to deliver content and allow check-in. To maintain as much of a sense of community as possible, we have begun planning for virtual advisory meetings and assemblies. Then there are the events of the spring- all are under review. But, I do not want to get too far ahead. Let us continue to plan for a return to campus on April 16. From there we will plan out the rest of a school year - a truly historic one.
