Hadestown Nominated for Four ‘Dream Awards’

The Upper School’s production of Hadestown was nominated for four Dream Awards, including Best Musical. The awards, described as Palm Beach County’s version of the Tony Awards for high school theatre, “represent the highest regional honor in musical theatre,” according to upper school theatre director Jason Peck.

“More schools participated this year than ever before, and being recognized among them is an extraordinary achievement,” Peck said. “Being recognized as one of the Best Musical nominees is a monumental achievement, especially considering we’re in the company of some of the most competitive programs in the region.”

Peck said the honor places Benjamin “on the same stage as schools with specialized tracks in musical theatre and performance.”

Nominees include Hailey Cischke for Best Costume Design, Michael Alvarez for Best Featured Male Ensemble, and David Frear for Best Lead Male Performance.

As nominee for Best Lead Male Performance, Frear will compete for a chance to attend the National High School Musical Theatre Awards on Broadway in New York City in June.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a testament to his tremendous talent and hard work,” said Peck.
The cast was also invited to perform a number from Hadestown at the Dream Awards Showcase on June 1st at the Kravis Center.

“This moment is about more than awards - it’s a celebration of the bold, passionate, and collaborative spirit that defines our students and our school,” said Peck. “Hadestown was a daring, deeply moving production, and we’re so proud that it continues to shine.”
