Benjamin Welcomes New Head Basketball Coach 'Shempy'

Benjamin has officially welcomed new Boys Varsity Head Basketball Coach Chris “Shempy” Champeau to the Buccaneer family.

“Coach Champeau brings extensive head coaching experience and outstanding connections within the greater basketball community to Benjamin,” said Athletic Director Ryan Smith ‘93. “We are excited to welcome him to the Benjamin community.”

Champeau, who spent the last 20 years coaching and training players from the NBA to college, high school, and middle school, has developed an extensive network that has created many opportunities for his players.

Champeau recently told ESPN West Palm that he chose Benjamin for the school’s 12 Benjamin values, especially courage, perseverance and gratitude.

Champeau is a champion of multi-sport athletes, excellence in the classroom, and a commitment to community service.

Prior to basketball and charitable endeavors Coach worked on Wall Street in the hedge fund space.
