Students Learn, Explore During Summer Camp

Benjamin summer camp participants have enjoyed a wide variety of activities and offerings during the past two months.

Adventure camp, held from June 11 through July 13  for children entering grades K through 3, offered young people enjoyable enrichment activities. Each week, campers experienced theme-based activities including arts and crafts, music, dance and gymnastics. All activities took place on campus and were open to non-Benjamin students.

“The goal of The Benjamin School Summer Program is to provide opportunities for students to grow intellectually, socially and morally through academic enrichment and exploration, as well as enjoyable and challenging athletic and camp experiences,” said Director of Summer Programs Chris Nordland.

Students in grades 3-6 participated in Lego Robotics camp using the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 Base Set and Software. Students explored the world of robotics through this powerful and versatile brick building system and created their own robots.

Girls entering grades 5-9 had the opportunity to join a Makers Camp for girls, designed to develop their imagination, problem-solving, design-thinking and team-work skills. They worked both individually and in teams designing, creating, and making various projects that will incorporate both engineering and art.

The School offered 16 additional camps throughout the summer for students of all ages.
