Upper School Debate Team Competes In Opening Tournament

Members of the Upper School Speech and Debate team competed in the opening tournament of the PBCFL season at Spanish River High School on Saturday, September 21. The Congressional Debate featured students from 27 area schools in 19 chambers of mock hearings.

Freshman Christina Taylor won a 4th place award for Novice speaker and Junior Michael Scellato was selected as the 3rd place Varsity speaker in their respective sections.

“We had a strong showing, with all of our speakers earning strong marks for their poise, preparation, and public speaking prowess,” said debate team faculty advisor John Peruggia.

“The team is excited to have started the year off so strongly and looks forward to building on this success moving forward,” said Peruggia.
