Former UM Admissions Director Joins College Counseling Team
Juan Alvarez has joined The Benjamin School’s college counseling team after spending 25 years at the University of Miami where he most recently served as Senior Associate Director of Admission.
Director of College Counseling Anna Wright says Alvarez brings extensive experience in domestic, international, and multicultural college recruitment to Benjamin. Alvarez additionally worked with UM’s Development and Alumni office to facilitate donor and alumni relations abroad. He also worked in conjunction with the Athletic Department to review all athlete applications.
“He has a vast network of contacts, along with his own invaluable knowledge, which will undoubtedly help us advise and guide our students through the ever-changing admissions process,” Wright said. “More importantly, Mr. Alvarez is one of the kindest and funniest people I know. Families and students are going to love working with him. He is going to be a huge asset to our program.”
Hailing from Medellin, Colombia and a former Rhode Islander, Alvarez, his wife Lori, and their son Michael are excited to join The Benjamin School community.
