US Arts, Journalism Programs Receive National Honors

Upper school arts and journalism students had a banner week, receiving national recognition for their creative endeavors. 

Upper school newspaper The Pharcyde and upper school yearbook Treasures both received National first place awards from The Scholastic Press Association. 

BTV News also earned a gold medal from The Florida Scholastic Press Association for its November 1, 2022 episode. Lauded by judges for its scope of coverage and professionalism, accolades poured in for the program. 

Upper school visual arts students shared in the excitement of hard work paying off as they were recognized for their creativity with a total of 121 Regional Scholastic Art Awards, including 21 Gold Keys - the highest honor conferred by the Scholastic Art Association. Middle School student Branson Smith received an Honorable Mention in drawing. He was the only Middle School student in the competition to receive an award.

“Great students and great teachers working together can do amazing things,” said Head of Upper School Fletcher Carr.
