Class of ‘23 Honored During Graduation Ceremony

Members of the Class of 2023 were honored for their four years of hard work and academic, athletic, and artistic achievements during a commencement ceremony in Benjamin Hall the evening of May 19.

Student Council President Owen Nutter opened the ceremony, acknowledging every person on the stage as “a force to be reckoned with.”

“Wherever we go, whatever destination we wind up in, the time we spent at The Benjamin School will be the shining North Star that will guide us through our lives,” said Nutter.

Head of School Dave Faus told the audience of proud family and friends that he was excited to celebrate the seniors’ final accomplishments with them.

The entire Benjamin community has been inspired by your Buccaneer spirit,” said Faus.
“Time and time again you have demonstrated that the gratification earned from working hard, working together, and working for something larger than oneself is priceless.”

Faus encouraged the seniors to stay in touch with the school.

“We, the collective Benjamin we, care about you and are eager to continue to support you. Graduates, you leave The Benjamin School well prepared and well positioned to succeed. Based on your accomplishments thus far, it’s clear that the Class of 2023 will continue to make a positive impact for years to come,” said Faus.

Dr. Amy Zito, vice chairperson of The Board of Trustees, thanked seniors’ families for their partnership with the school.

“It takes a community to get to this moment. Thank you for being willing partners and for sharing each one of them with us. They have fantastic futures ahead of them,” she said.

Valedictorian Ingrid Corpus and Salutatorians Skyler Malmberg and Andrew Moffitt shared words of wisdom with the Class of 2023 along with Salutatorian Mae Visconti who spoke at Baccalaureate earlier in the week.

Head of Middle School Charles Hagy and Head of Lower School Dr. Kristen Sheehan presented the Founders’ Cup Awards to students Micah Mays and Ingrid Corpus for exemplifying and living out the ideals of school founders Marshall and Nancy Benjamin.

With tremendous pride, Athletic Director Ryan Smith ‘93 presented diplomas to the graduating Class of 2023.
