Class of ‘24 Honored During Commencement Ceremony

Members of the Class of 2024 were celebrated for their hard work and academic, athletic, and artistic achievements during a commencement ceremony in Benjamin Hall the evening of May 17. The ceremony honored both the students’ achievements and the community that has supported them throughout their journey at Benjamin.

Student Council President Margaret Smith reflected on shared experiences she enjoyed with fellow members of “The 15-Year Club” that shaped her years at Benjamin.

“Benjamin has provided us with endless opportunities . . . our teachers and peers have impacted our lives more than they will ever know,” she said in opening remarks.

Head of School Dave Faus highlighted the unique spirit of the graduating class of 2024 during his commencement remarks.

“The entire Benjamin community has been inspired by your Buccaneer spirit,” said Faus. “Time and time again you have demonstrated that the gratification earned from working hard, working together, and working for something larger than oneself, is priceless.”

Faus encouraged the graduates to cherish the network they have built, comprising not only their peers, but also an extensive alumni community.

“Beyond the relationships you already have established, the 3,000 plus alums who have come before you provide a deep well of knowledge and connections. They will prove to be tremendous resources—stay in touch . . . We, the collective Benjamin we, care about you and are eager to continue supporting you. You leave The Benjamin School well prepared and well positioned to succeed,” he said.

Board Chair Sasha Klein echoed this sentiment and emphasized the collective effort behind each student’s success.

“It takes a community to get to this moment,” Klein said. “Thank you for being willing partners in their journey. We are honored that you shared, partnered, and trusted each one of them with us. They have achieved astonishing accomplishments. Your contributions are profound. You’ve set high standards for those who will follow,” she said.

Academic Dean Caroline Guzman recognized co-valedictorians Zach Neidoff and Simryn Patel along with salutatorian Zoe Cooper, who all offered remarks during the commencement ceremony.

The prestigious Founders’ Cup Awards, presented by Head of Middle School Charles Hagy and Head of Lower School Dr. Kristen Sheehan, were awarded to Luciano Curioni and Maggie Smith.

Four years of hard work, perseverance, and growth were celebrated with great pride as Head of Upper School Fletcher Carr presented diplomas to the graduating class.

Congratulations to The Benjamin School Class of 2024!
