About

Tradition of Excellence

Founded in 1960 as North Palm Beach Private School by Nancy and Marshall Benjamin, The Benjamin School of today is one of the nation's premier independent day schools. From Early Childhood through Upper School (grades PK3 - 12), we offer a wide range of possibilities for students across broad horizons.

With over 1,100 students enrolled on two campuses in North Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens, The Benjamin School offers a comprehensive experience academically, athletically and artistically. Through a wide range of courses, class trips and co-curricular clubs and sports, students learn to work both independently and collaboratively.

Robust Mind

Benjamin students think big - really big. From Lower School through Upper School, teachers and coursework push them beyond what they imagine into areas of intellectual curiosity and personal discovery. They learn to navigate the moving horizons in our modern world, becoming passionate life-long learners.

Strong Character

At the heart of our school is commitment to teach the importance of good character. Benjamin inspires students to develop a set of values that include a love of learning, personal responsibility, self-motivation, concern for others and a commitment to serve society. Our "12 Benjamin Values" guide us in both what we teach and how we treat each other.

Creative Heart

For Benjamin School students, the sky's the limit: They can intern with a local biotechnology research center, volunteer on a service mission to Costa Rica, or produce and star in their own original production on stage in Benjamin Hall. Surrounded by high expectations, our students fully develop their talents, exceeding expectations in the classroom, on the athletic fields and in their artistic pursuits.

Broad Horizons

We’re proud of our outstanding reputation in independent school education, and we work diligently to sustain it. At The Benjamin School, we’re setting new standards for excellence with a broad array of award-winning programs in STEM, sustainability, the arts and athletics as well as student activities, like our Pharcyde newspaper and BTV news program. Students graduate prepared for a bountiful range of opportunities, including admission to our nation’s finest colleges and universities.

  • Lower School (PK3-5)

    Nurturing a Love of Learning
Children begin their educational journey in Benjamin’s Lower School (grades PK3-5). In core academic subjects, as well as in art, music, world languages, and physical education, faculty focus intensely on children’s individual talents—encouraging them to be the best version of themselves. In the classroom and on the playground, we help students develop their individual voices so that they learn to advocate for themselves.

    Building Fundamental Skills
Our program emphasizes foundational skills in reading, writing and mathematics, interwoven with sophisticated (and fun!) learning experiences. One of the most-anticipated events each year is the Lower School Olympics, where each classroom adopts a country and delves into its culture, literature and customs—even connecting via Skype with schoolchildren in that country. Through the experience, students gain an appreciation for a variety of traditions around the world.

    World Languages
Since its founding, The Benjamin School has emphasized the study of world languages from a young age. Beginning in our PK3 classrooms, students learn Mandarin Chinese, French and Spanish through games, music and stories. As they advance through Lower School, students eventually choose to focus their study on one language, but not before they have developed an appreciation for all.

    Nature as Teacher
South Florida’s climate lends itself to outdoor activity, and we capitalize on this in the Lower School. Students spend part of each day outside for free play and for learning. Science classes, for example, use nature as a classroom, giving students the opportunity to explore the world around them. All classes eat lunch outdoors and enjoy two sessions of recess that provide an invaluable outlet for young children’s exuberant energy.
  • Middle School (6-8)

    Inspiring Student Success
We understand students learn best when they are engaged. That’s why The Benjamin School emphasizes interdisciplinary, project-based learning in all grades. Unit studies incorporate history, social studies, literature, art, science, music, language and mathematics to teach concepts and develop skills.
  • Upper School (9-12)

    Creating Globally Competent Citizens
The Benjamin School offers the quintessential high school experience, with a plethora of opportunities in the classroom, on the playing field, in the studio and on the stage. Our Upper School unquestionably prepares students for the demands of college and the rigors of 21st-century careers and world citizenship.
A premier PK3 - Grade 12 independent, coeducational day school with campuses in North Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. Since 1960, The Benjamin School has provided a challenging college preparatory education to a diverse student body in a structured, nurturing community environment.
