MS Athletes Receive Inaugural Ron Ream Award

Eighth grade student-athletes Luca Balzano and Grayson Murphy were awarded the Ron Ream Award in recognition of their outstanding middle school athletic careers.

The award, given in honor of former Athletic Director and varsity football coach Ron Ream, honors a female and male athlete whose careers were guided by sportsmanship, honesty, compassion, and hard work.

Luca Balzano was the first five-sport athlete in the history of the middle school, playing football, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and golf. Middle School Athletic Director Toby Harbeck said Balzano won numerous awards during his three year career including Most Valuable, Most Improved, and Coaches’ Award.

Grayson Murphy, a four-sport athlete, also received numerous awards for her accomplishments in volleyball, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse.

Harbeck said the award is fittingly named in honor of “the greatest influence in Benjamin School athletics.”

"One of Ron Ream's greatest qualities was his character. The same can be said of both these student-athletes," said Harbeck.
