Five US Playwrights Named Dramaworks Finalists

Five upper school student playwrights have been selected as finalists in the 2026 Palm Beach Dramaworks Young Playwrights 10-Minute Play Festival.

For the past five consecutive years, a Benjamin playwright has won this prestigious county-wide contest.
“From a significant amount of submissions across Palm Beach County, these students’ original works rose to the top. This is a tremendous achievement and an honor that reflects their creativity, craft, and courage as young writers,” upper school theatre director Jason Peck said.

Peck said he is incredibly proud of every student who submitted a script to this year’s competition.

“Writing a play takes vulnerability, imagination, and daring and our community showed all of it,” he said.”

Each finalist will receive professional feedback and have the opportunity to refine their plays before a final round of judging during which Dramaworks will select 10 winning plays. Winners will be invited to a private master class with a national known playwright along with a writer’s workshop and professional photo shoot.

“It’s an extraordinary educational experience, and an unforgettable journey for young artists,” Peck said.
