World Language Teams Triumph at Statewide Competition

The school’s French and Spanish world language teams have once again earned top honors at their annual state-wide competitions.

The Spanish Conferencia team of 16 students who performed impromptu speeches, declamations, and a play, won first place in their category as well as their division.

The French Team triumphed at the statewide Congrès de la culture française en Floride, a two-day celebration of Francophone arts, language, and culture.

“The event was a blend of creativity and scholarship featuring an art project inspired by the year's theme, a play (adapted from classic French literature), song competition, poetry declamation, and a rigorous one-hour written exam. It culminated in a grand banquet, dance and awards ceremony to honor best entries,” said faculty advisor Colleen Donnelly.

This marks the first time since 2018 that both the Spanish and French teams have both earned first-place finishes; an achievement that underscores the strength of the school’s world language programs.
