Brothers Andrew Krumholz ‘05 and Richard Krumholz ‘03 were honored with the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award for their entrepreneurial success and contributions to business and philanthropy.
The brothers were recognized during a ceremony in Benjamin Hall that welcomed alumni, students, faculty, and friends back to Grandiflora Road.
The program opened with remarks from Head of School Mr. David Faus, emphasizing the importance of alumni engagement and the global reach of the school’s network, which now includes more than 3,500 graduates. Faus encouraged current seniors to remain connected after graduation.
The Distinguished Alumni Award, presented annually by the Alumni Council, recognizes graduates who have demonstrated exceptional professional achievement and meaningful contributions to their communities. Past recipients have included leaders across diverse fields.
The Krumholz brothers were recognized not only for their accomplishments as students, where they held leadership roles ranging from valedictorian to student body president, but also for their impressive careers after graduation.
Both attended Harvard College before beginning careers in finance, including roles at major investment firms. In their early 30s, they launched their own venture, Delight Restaurant Group.
Over the past nine years, the company has grown rapidly, expanding to more than 230 restaurant locations, employing over 6,000 people, and generating more than $500 million in annual revenue. The business is now considered one of the largest franchise operators in the United States and continues to expand.
In addition to their operating company, the brothers also manage an investment platform, diversifying across industries. Their work has earned industry recognition, including national awards for franchise leadership and dealmaking.
The Krumholz brothers have also been active in philanthropy, supporting initiatives such as adoption programs and scholarship efforts. Andrew Krumholz has served on the board of a Boys & Girls Club chapter, reflecting the pair’s commitment to community engagement.
During their keynote address, the brothers shared personal stories from their time at Benjamin and their professional journeys. Richard Krumholz recounted stepping into the role of varsity quarterback mid-season despite having no prior experience, describing it as an early lesson in taking risks and embracing failure.
“That experience taught me that growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone,” he said. “Even when it doesn’t work out, the lessons stay with you.”
Andrew Krumholz focused on the importance of emotional intelligence and self-awareness, encouraging students to better understand themselves and others. He shared a story from his senior year involving a prank that led to disciplinary consequences, describing it as a pivotal moment in learning empathy and accountability.
“Some of the most important problems in life don’t have answer keys,” he said. “Understanding people, yourself and others, is essential.”
Throughout their remarks, both alumni emphasized perseverance, thoughtful risk-taking, and the value of strong relationships. They encouraged students to pursue ambitious goals while remaining grounded in integrity and collaboration.
The ceremony concluded with a reminder from Head of Upper School Mr. Fletcher Carr that the Benjamin experience extends far beyond graduation, with alumni encouraged to return to campus and stay connected to their alma mater.
