The mission of the Diversity Committee is to support the overall mission of The Benjamin School by providing a challenging college preparatory education to a diverse student body in a structured, nurturing community environment.
The committee helps to cultivate an appreciation for the broad ethnic, cultural, racial, and religious diversity of the School, community, nation and world in the following ways:
By creating a diverse educational community within which each member feels respected and supported.
By teaching and modeling sensitivity.
The exchange of ideas, and understanding with regard to race, religion, socioeconomic status, and other individual characteristics.
By supporting and encouraging increased diversity in student enrollment, faculty, administration and school committees.
By encouraging school practices and policies that reflect a long-range commitment to diversity.
By establishing a strong support system for students, families, faculty and administrators who reflect the school's diversity.
