The arts were on proud display during the school’s 30th annual Variety Show January 24 in Benjamin Hall. Aptly titled The Best Is Yet to Come, the production brought together students, faculty, parents, and alumni who showcased their talents during an unforgettable evening of performing arts.
The show, spearheaded by Performing Arts Chair Sara Salivar and co-chairs Oniz Musibay Sánchez and Molly Stringer '95, featured a wide range of acts that highlighted the depth and diversity of talent within the Benjamin community.
The evening welcomed alumni performers back to campus, including Dr. Andrew Moffitt ’84, Robert Bozic ’85, Audrey Blake Calvani ’98, Jason Pierman ’96, Brit Drozda ’05, Erika Strasser ’09, Kate Davis Bale ’11, and Riley Burke ’14.
Alumni also shared recorded reflections and memories of their time on the Variety Show stage, including Briley Crisafi ’20, Dani Garcia ’19, Rachel Rudner ’04, Lulu Swank ’25, and longtime Variety Show chair Molly Apple, who helped guide the production from 1998 to 2009. Their stories underscored the show’s lasting impact across generations.
Salivar said this year’s performance was especially meaningful to her.
“I was smiling from early Saturday morning and I even fell asleep smiling that night. To see everything come together from lighting, to sound, to stage managing, to props, to costumes, to performers; and to see all the many facets of TBS put their heart and soul into this show filled me with pride and joy,” she said.
One highlight of the performance came during the middle school’s rendition of “Light ’Em Up,” featuring the dancers and middle school drumline. Thanks to BASH’s Call from the Heart, the performance was elevated with Litebee Star drones, adding a striking visual element to an already impressive number.
Salivar said everyone from the school’s youngest performers to the alumni who returned to campus played an integral role in the program’s success.
“Every element was carefully planned, students were carefully prepared and all of the hard work that led up to Saturday's productions was well worth the time, energy and rehearsal. To see our talented alumni return to grace the Benjamin Hall stage was such an honor,” she said, while offering equal praise for all those who made the event possible behind-the-scenes.
“Chris Bell, Ken Archer, Bob Woods, the stage crew (students and adults), Bona Kidston, Marina Riskala, Amanda Pierman, Nancy McAllister, Lori Ramírez, and so many more.”
Salivar said she can hardly express the depth of her gratitude and appreciation for all those who helped make the 30th anniversary event possible:
