Seniors Welcome HHRC Students for Annual Bunny Hop

Benjamin seniors invited preschool students from the Hispanic Human Resources Council Child Development Centers to TBS for the annual Bunny Hop celebration. Each senior was matched with a preschooler during the Spring celebration. The seniors and more than 100 special guests enjoyed the morning of festivities which included an egg hunt, pony rides, a petting zoo and bounce house. The students also enjoyed activities in the gym and a photo with the Easter Bunny.

Faculty advisor Amanda Pierman, who coordinates the Bunny Hop, says it's a great tradition for the senior class.

"What I love most about the event is the smiles on the faces of the children - both our big kids and the preschoolers. There is nothing quite like seeing the joy and hearing the squeals of excitement of a young child having fun," said Pierman.

"Not only did I enjoy seeing and hearing this, but our seniors did too! The seniors all seemed to shine and stepped up to being fantastic hosts and playmates for our guests. They made each kid feel special and loved. They even taught them some manners and chivalrous words of wisdom along the way," said Pierman. She said senior Martin Weisz instructed his buddy Andrew to allow the ladies to go first, while Jordan Travis helped his buddy Anthony learn to hold the door for people to pass through.

"It was in these small acts, along with all the smiles and the event as a whole, that makes me love The Bunny Hop and brings tears of joy to my eyes when thinking about these sweet kids and our fantastic seniors," said Pierman.

The celebration was the final community service event of the year for the senior class.
