The Middle School Strings students are making excellent progress as they refine their repertoire, which includes Butterflies on the Breeze, March Royal, and American Rounds. This week, the class is placing a heavy emphasis on intonation, with students practicing active listening to ensure a unified, cohesive ensemble sound. These selections are being prepared for our upcoming showcase at the Spring Music Festival, scheduled for April 23rd in Benjamin Hall. For students who joined the program this year and are looking to bridge the technical gap, private lessons are highly recommended; please contact Mr. Winters for a list of teacher recommendations.
The Quarter 4 actors are maintaining fantastic energy in the Acting Wheel as they move deeper into their work on Cinderella. The class is currently exploring four specific scenes, allowing students to settle into the script and develop a nuanced understanding of the story. This is a critical week for the ensemble, as students should be finalizing their interest in specific roles before Mr. Winters officially begins the casting process next week. In addition to their rehearsals, students are expected to diligently study their acting terms in preparation for an upcoming quiz.
After a truly spectacular concert performance, the B and D Period 6th Grade Bands are transitioning back to their core curriculum. We are incredibly proud of the professionalism and musicality they displayed on stage; their focused posture, impressive tone quality, and sophisticated teamwork set a high bar for the rest of the year. This week, the ensemble has officially resumed learning new pieces and technical exercises from the Standard of Excellence book. We look forward to seeing the students apply the same level of dedication and "ensemble listening" to these new musical challenges as they continue their journey.
Middle School Band: The work never stops for this exceptional group of young musicians. We are set with our program for the Spring Music Festival, and we find ourselves pushing our limits once again. We do not doubt that the maturity this group shows daily, both artistically and personally, will lead to yet another successful performance.
