2025-2026 BLUE & ORANGE WEEKLY REVIEW
The Benjamin Middle School Mathematics: Week of 03/30/2026

Welcome to the Benjamin Middle School Mathematics Blue/Orange Review.  You will find highlighted information regarding your student’s class, including class reminders and activities. The Middle School Math curriculum will continue to use Larson/Boswell's Big Ideas Math curriculum for the 2025-2026 academic school year. The Big Ideas Math series has been very successful for our students and will continue to enhance their mathematical development.  All Grade 6 through Geometry Honors students can access the e-book through the Benjamin webpage.  Students will not receive a hard copy of the mathematics textbook for personal use at home.  Mrs. Jackson:
Math 6: and  Math 6 Advanced:  Students can expect their Chapter 8 test on Tuesday, 3/31 and Wednesday, 4/1. No school on Friday but we will start Chapter 9 on Thursday.
Math 6 Advanced: Students will take their Chapter 8 Test on Tuesday , 3/31. They will jump into Chapter A on Thursday and there will be no school on Friday.

 Ms. Latimer:
Math 6: This week our students learned to add, subtract, multiply and divide integers using the catchy Integer Mash. They practiced with some exercises and did remarkably well. One Friday we reviewed for next Tuesday’s test. After the test, we’ll begin a unit about statistics starting with dot plots and the mean, median and mode.

Ms. Lazarus:
Advanced Pre-Algebra 6: Students have successfully completed Chapter D and will have the Chapter D Test on Tuesday, 3/31.  We will then proceed onto Chapter 10: Volume and Similar Solids.

Mr. Marcantonio:  Advanced Pre-Algebra:  Advanced Pre-Algebra Update – Week of March 30th During the week of March 30th, Advanced Pre-Algebra students will begin Chapter D: Geometric Shapes and Angles.  Students will cover the first three sections of the chapter: D.1: Circles and Circumference, D.2: Area of Circles and Perimeter, and D.3: Area of Composite Figures.  This unit will help students apply geometric concepts to a variety of real-world situations while strengthening their understanding of area and perimeter relationships.

Mr. Marcantonio:  Math 7  Math 7 Update – Week of March 30th  During the week of March 30th, Math 7 students will wrap up Chapter 7: Probability. Students will take a chapter test on Thursday, April 2nd, covering Sections 7.1–7.3.  These sections focus on experimental and theoretical probability, as well as compound events, helping students deepen their understanding of how probability applies in a variety of situations.  Thank you for your continued support as we move through this important unit.

Mrs. Hudson: Students will be returning from break to continue with angles and triangles. Chapter 3.3 our target will be to find interior angle measures of polygons. Then moving into using similar triangles to find missing measures.
Math 8:    In chapter 3 (we rearranged the chapters) we explored the fundamental properties of lines, angles, and shapes that form the basis of Euclidean geometry. By understanding how lines interact and how angles are distributed within closed figures, we can solve complex spatial problems and perform indirect measurements.

Mrs. Bonea:
Math 8: We’ve hit the ground running as we returned from Spring Break. The kids did a lot of review work for those concepts we talked about before break, and we learned one new concept this week. The kids have one more concept to learn, review the chapter material, and they will test on Wednesday the 8th. Please remember that everything is linked, by day, in the chapter topics pages so any student who was absent and/or needs additional copies of anything can find them in their class topics page folder (or a hard copy can be found in the classroom in the absent bins). Please remember that everything is linked, by day, in the chapter topics pages so any student who was absent and/or needs additional copies of anything can find them in their class topics page folder (or a hard copy can be found in the classroom in the absent bins).

Algebra I (Regular) 8: We’ve hit the ground running as we returned from Spring Break. The kids did a lot of review work for those concepts we talked about before break, and we learned two new concepts to finalize last week. The kids will spend the beginning of this week reviewing and will test on this section on Tuesday March 31st. This will be the first test of the quarter!

Algebra I Honors 8:  We’ve hit the ground running as we returned from Spring Break. The kids did a lot of review work for those concepts we talked about before break, and we really covered most of the material for graphing a quadratic in standard form prior to going on break. We spent last week reviewing heavily and will test on this skill on Tuesday March 31st/ Wednesday April 1st. Please remember that everything is linked, by day, in the chapter topics pages so any student who was absent and/or needs additional copies of anything can find them in their class topics page folder (or a hard copy can be found in the classroom in the absent bins).

Mrs. Hansen:
Algebra I Honors 7:  We are currently working on Chapter #8, Graphing Quadratic Functions, with the unit test scheduled for 3/31/26.  At the end of Chapter #8, students should have a successful knowledge of Graphing f (x) ax2, ax2 + c; ax2 + bx + c; a(x - h)2 + k; Using Intercept Form; Comparing Linear, Exponential, and Quadratic Functions.  The material learned in Chapter #8 will be applied in chapter #9.  As discussed in class, all of the handouts may be found on the Class Topic page.  As always, students are invited to meet with me before school or during 7th grade Study Hall for additional review.  The weekly lesson plans can be by clicking on the following link: 2025-2026 ALGEBRA I HONORS (7): Period B & D LESSON PLANS

Geometry Honors 8: We are currently working on Chapter #9, Right Triangles and Trigonometry.  Please make sure you bring your calculators to class since we will be using them regularly.  Students are highly encouraged to review this material daily since there are a lot of details included with this chapter. The Chapter #9 TEST is scheduled for 4/2/2026.  To help students with these lessons and discussed in class, all handouts may be found on the Class Topic page. As always, students are invited to meet with me before school or during 8th grade Study Hall for additional review.  The weekly lesson plans can be found by clicking on the following link:   2025-2026 Geometry: Period E* F LESSON PLANS
